6.EE.C.9 worksheets and activities

Use variables to represent two quantities in a real-world problem that change in relationship to one another; write an equation to express one quantity, thought of as the dependent variable, in terms of the other quantity, thought of as the independent variable. Analyze the relationship between the dependent and independent variables using graphs and tables, and relate these to the equation. For example, in a problem involving motion at constant speed, list and graph ordered pairs of distances and times, and write the equation d = 65t to represent the relationship between distance and time.

2 interactive, auto-graded activities for 6th grade students practising 6.EE.C.9. Mini Labs put the standard to work in a real scenario; Skill Practice builds fluency on the standard alone. Every one is randomized per student, so each learner gets their own numbers.

Lemonade Stand: Profit Using Expressions

Help plan a lemonade stand by writing expressions for cost and profit, solving inequalities to reach a profit goal, and analyzing how the number of cups sold affects earnings. Students build a table, plot a linear graph, and use a slider to visualize how profit changes—making math both real and interactive!
